
Rüdiger Heimgärtner

Dr. Heimgärtner earned undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Computer Science. He did graduate work in Information science, Linguistics, Philosophy, and Religion Studies and obtained his PhD in Information Science from the University of Regensburg. He is a specialist of cultural differences in HMI and has worked in software and HMI projects at Siemens AG and Continental AG. He is the founder and managing director of the company Intercultural User Interface Consulting (IUIC) and has provided training and consultation for Intercultural User Interface Design (IUID). The areas of interest of Dr. Heimgärtner include machine learning, automated reasoning, psychology of judgment, and mathematical psychology. One of his main contributions to information science, usability engineering, and HMI design is detailing IUID in articles, proceedings, and books, e.g. as author of the first German speaking book on IUID.
He is iNTACS certified ASPICE assessor with
more than 10 years of experience in quality and process management in
international software and HMI projects. He is member of the International
Usability and User Experience Qualification Board (UXQB) as well as of the
working team of ambient assisted living (AAL) at the German Institute for
Standardization (DIN).
